for a great rescue story.
OUR MISSION.
We are dedicated to provide care & shelter and ultimately forever
homes for any Bull Terrier or Miniature Bull Terrier in need without exception.
WHO ARE WE
We are a part of the Bull Terrier Fanciers Association. We are a non
profit division of the BTFA operating as an animal welfare
organization. All contributions are appreciated and used exclusively
for Bull Terriers or Miniature Bull Terriers in need but are not tax deductible. We have no
salaried overhead costs. Our co chairpersons and staff are all
volunteers who give of their time, expertise and talent for general
public safety as well as the welfare of the Bull Terrier breed. Our
expenses are direct costs of recovery, feed & maintenance, health
care, foster home and housing support.
WHAT WE DO WITH OUR INCOMING RESCUES….
We rescue Bull Terriers or Miniature Bull Terriers that are unwanted, surrendered or displaced
from their home regardless of circumstances. In most cases where a
bully is being surrendered, there is a formal surrender application/agreement. We
are not judgmental, we accept every Bull Terrier with an open mind
for professional assessment. We do an assessment, care for their
immediate health needs and provide a stable environment of food &
shelter to properly make this assessment. We arrange neutering or
spaying if necessary. We assure that microchip identification is in
place. Only after assessment we actively seek forever homes for
these rescue candidates.
WHAT WE DO TO PLACE OUR RESCUES…
We accept applications from bona fide candidates interested in
providing a forever home for a rescue Bull Terrier or Miniature Bull
Terrier. All approved
Adoption Applications require a donation of $350 to the BTFA BT
Rescue before any rescue bully can go to their forever home. If the
Rescue is deemed to be a puppy the donation is increased to $
500.00. All
persons accepting a rescue must sign an Adoption Agreement before a
rescue can be released into their home.
This donation includes the first year membership in the Bull Terrier
Fanciers Association. All rescues agree to come back to the annual
Rescue Parade at the Bronze Trophy Show and tell their story. On
occasion we will introduce people that can no longer provide a home
for their bully to a potential rescue candidate but ALL candidates
for rescue MUST go thru the application process.
Some of the adoption application rules include:
An application must be completed and approved before any placement
or referral is considered.
Our rescue candidate application includes a home inspection by a
BTFA BT Rescue designate without exception prior to approval. A
fenced yard is required.
All rescue candidates are required to visit any rescue in the
rescue foster home or designate. BT Rescue does not deliver rescues
for inspection or for in home trials.
BT Rescue only adopt to homes in Ontario except in special
circumstances involving a BTFA member outside Ontario.
It's all about the Dog!
