The Bull Terrier Fanciers Association
is a Bull Terrier Breed Club founded in 1972 to preserve and protect
the integrity of the Bull Terrier. We support ethical breeding
programs that maintain and improve our purebred breed standard as
well as the ongoing good health of the bull terrier. We stand
against puppy mills. We stand against Bill 132 in Ontario or the BSL
as it has come to be known. We have activities for every Bull
Terrier Fancier.
For the Show Fancier…. We host the
Bronze Trophy Show Weekend every year on the first weekend in
May. This is the largest Bull Terrier show in Canada and among the
largest in North America. It is held in near Niagara Falls, Ontario
in conjunction with the Seaway Kennel Club Championship All Breed
Dog Show. It attracts about 60 of the finest Bull Terriers from all
over North America to compete in confirmation classes and trophy
events. Seven breeder judges from all over the world are selected to
judge these prestigious events. In 2010 the BTFA formally accepted
the Miniature Bull Terrier fancy to become part of the club. MBT
folks are now included in all BTFA activities & events. As a result,
the BTFA has supported the entry of Miniature Bull Terriers at the
Seaway Kennel Club Show on Friday & Saturday of the Bronze Trophy
Weekend. In 2012, it is expected that we will host a Trophy Show for
Miniature Bull Terriers on the Saturday similar to the Bull Terrier
Bronze Trophy Show. The BTFA MBT National Specialty is held on Sunday. All
these are Canadian Kennel Club Sanctioned Shows and Canadian
Championship points are awarded.
For The Rescue Fancier… We are very active and dedicated to
Bull Terrier Rescue. We are
part of an international network of people & organizations that work
to help any Bull Terrier in distress and needing a new forever home.
We host a rescue parade as part of the Bronze Trophy Weekend. Our
feature event of the year is the “Annual Canada Day Bully Walk &
BBQ”, a fundraiser in support of our rescue initiatives held on July
1 every year.
For our Pet People… We have many members who just love their Bull
Terrier as their pet and companion. We see all our members get
together for a fun day at our Annual Halloween Costume Party & Treat
Hunt in late October.
We are a recognized as a Bull Terrier breed club in good standing
with the Canadian Kennel Club and are listed in their directory. We
are a regional affiliate club of the Bull Terrier Club of America.
Although we operate primarily in South Western Ontario, we have
members from all over the world. In addition to our
events we meet about eight times a year at the home of a member
usually on a Sunday afternoon.. Meetings are casual, puppies are
welcome and we share in the preparation of a pot luck meal.
Please enjoy your tour of our website. We welcome all Bull Terrier F
fanciers to join our club and take part in our activities. If you
need further information, please contact
any of our executive committee.
